Absence of Light

Absence of Light

This project is a response to lives lived and lives lost to depression and anxiety. Both these illnesses are household names and yet there is still a very real stigma and shame that keeps them in the dark.

Absence of Light is not a depiction of any one experience. Rather, through dance, object play and metaphor, the performance seeks to open up a dialogue, ask questions and break down the stigmas and fear.

This project has been assisted through Arts Tasmania by the minister for the Arts.

Thank you to Theatre North, Tasmania Performs, Phluxus2, Centre of Contemporary Arts, Ausdance QLD and Metro Arts for your generous support.

Materials: glass, cotton, water.

‘This project was made possible by the Australian Government's Regional Arts Fund, which supports the arts in regional and remote Australia.’
